Goldendoodles are a cross between Golden Retrievers and Standard Poodles, resulting in a hybrid, first generation cross that exhibits the "hybrid Vigour"-a healthier cross between two unrelated purebred lines. They were first bred in the 1990's in North America, as a larger version of the Cockapoo. They have non-shedding to light shedding coats and are ideal for people with MILD allergies, not severe. They are very popular as family dogs because of their ideal dispositions and intelligence and easy trainability. Poodles are 2nd rated in intelligence and Golden Retrievers are rated 4th. Goldens are rated 4th in popularity, while Poodles are ranked 5th. Goldendoodles are terrific, friendly family dogs and do not usually bark much.

I started breeding goldendoodles about four years ago after breeding goldens for over 10 years. I am a big fan of Goldens and their wonderful dispositions and beauty, but am impressed with the cross. They make great indoor pets and are great for people with mild allergies that cannot have goldens. My puppies are sold with a two year health guarantee against birth defects. They will be wormed and vaccinated and in good health. I enjoy hearing about how they adjust to their new homes and become a part of their new family.
